Similarly, after adjustment to the albumin levels, patients with AKI upon admission had lower albumin-adjusted plasma-free thiols levels (7.3 (3.5–9.0) μmol/g) compared to critically ill patients without AKI upon admission (8.5 (5.8–11.3) μmol/g; p < 0.05; Figure 1B).
