Furthemore, we identified common “pathogenic” variants in genes known to be linked to viral infection, such as MBL2, IRGM and SAA1, and/or specific organ damage as PRSS1. Polymorphisms in PRSS1, a serine protease secreted from the pancreas, are associated with autosomal dominant hereditary pancreatitis (OMIM#167800) [43]. This evidence concerns the gene PRSS1 and viral infectious disease.
