Sova et al. [96] found that COPD patients (n = 157) had a significantly higher EFT than controls (n = 45) (5.4 ± 1.6 vs. 4.1 ± 0.9 mm; p < 0.001); multivariate analysis showed that EFT was independently correlated with high-sensitivity CRP (β = 0.300; p < 0.001) and BODE index, an important prognostic predictor of COPD (β = 0.405; p < 0.001) [97].
