Importantly, mRNA levels of Foxp3, IL-10, and TGFβ were significantly decreased in TLR2 KO mice compared with WT mice (Figure 3), suggesting that downregulation of Tregs and impaired IL-10 production in TLR2 KO mice increased Th1 cytokine mRNA levels and exacerbated the imiquimod-induced skin inflammation.
