Figure 7 shows the profile time series of Cd69 expression in response to malaria and vaccination. Malaria induces a dramatic increase in Cd69 expression from approximately 5 to 36 above normalization level very early during day 0 p.i. and 1 p.i., before declining to approximately 22 on day 4 p.i. This early peak in Cd69 expression is not affected by vaccination, which, however, significantly modulates the ensuing course of the malaria-induced expression of Cd69 between days 4 and 11 p.i. (Figure 7). This evidence concerns the gene CD69 and malaria.
