Interventions that diminish fatty acid accumulation, such as the arachidonic acid metabolite EET [39,40] or inducers of the antioxidant gene HO-1, e.g., cobalt compounds such as cobalt chloride (CoCl2) and cobalt protoporphyrin (CoPP) IX dichloride, are associated with increased insulin sensitivity, vascular function, improve cardiac function in heart failure patients, decreased levels of NOV, IL6 and TNF and the conversion of white adipocytes to brown adipocytes [32,41,42,43]. The gene discussed is HMOX1; the disease is heart failure.
