CRP and Sepsis: Another systematic review and meta-analysis updated in 2018 including nine studies comparing the diagnostic accuracy between procalcitonin and CRP for sepsis revealed a similar sensitivity of these two biomarkers (CRP: 0.80, 95% CI: 0.63–0.90, procalcitonin: 0.80, 95% CI: 0.69–0.87) but significantly lower specificity for CRP at 0.61 (95% CI: 0.50–0.72) than procalcitonin at 0.77 (95% CI: 0.60–0.88) [17].
