CRP and Sepsis: As a systematic review and meta-analysis in 2016 including 45 studies and a total of 5654 patients indicated, the diagnostic accuracy of CRP for distinguishing patients with sepsis from those with non-infectious SIRS revealed a fair sensitivity of 0.75 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.69–0.79), specificity of 0.67 (95% CI, 0.58–0.74), and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.77 (95% CI, 0.73–0.81) [15].
