The observed exaggeration of DSS colitis in β-actin cKO mice concurs with previous studies showing that perturbation of either actin filament turnover (Wang et al., 2016; Citalan-Madrid et al., 2017) or actomyosin contractility in the intestinal epithelium (Su et al., 2009; Naydenov et al., 2016) exaggerates the severity of intestinal inflammation in vivo. The gene discussed is ACTB; the disease is inflammation.
