TP53 and infection: The reduced intracellular ROS level during infection as per our previous results (Saha et al., 2019b) can also be explained in a way that p53 induces the level of BAX protein (pro-apoptotic) followed by increase in cytochrome c (Cyt c) level and thereby formation of intracellular ROS by the mitochondria which helps in either pathogen clearance or death of infected cells (Ranjan and Iwakuma, 2016).
