In AML, the histone methyltransferase inhibitor (DZNep) can increase the levels of TXNIP by clearing the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) protein and inhibiting the expression of the enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) gene, thus inducing ROS generation and leading to apoptosis in AML cells (Figure 2D) (120).
