Thus, in 297 samples obtained from patients with NSCLC, high density of CD68+ or CD204+ TAMs (assessed independently by IHC) in tumor stroma, but not in tumor islets or alveolar space, positively correlate with an advanced disease stage and histological grade, pleural invasion, node status, and wild-type EGFR gene status, and poor DFS of NSCLC patients (168).
