Chen et al. (2014) showed that MAP2K5 is regulated by mir-143 and affects lipogenesis. Methionine sulfoxide reductase A, MSRA, located near the previously mentioned variant rs516175, regulates glucose metabolism and insulin response in mitochondria and has protective effects on insulin sensitivity in obese mice (Hunnicut et al., 2015). It is also a target of miR-193b which stimulates reactive oxygen species signal transduction and regulates lip sarcoma cell survival and adipose tissue–derived stromal/stem cells cell differentiation (Mazzu et al., 2017). The gene discussed is MSRA; the disease is liposarcoma.
