Four days after infection, transcripts of the maize 9-LOX genes LOX1, LOX2, LOX3, LOX4, LOX5 as well as P450 were upregulated upon U. maydis infection and this data aligns with what has been previously observed (Doehlemann et al., 2008), suggesting that U. maydis manipulates the expression of these 9-LOX genes to facilitate colonization. The gene discussed is OLR1; the disease is infection.
