Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is an X-linked neurometabolic disorder due to mutations in a proximal transporter, adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette, subfamily, member 1 gene (ABCD1) (Moser et al., 2007; Kemp et al., 2016). Here, ABCD1 is linked to X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy.
