This is supported by the major findings that adoptive transfer of the myelin-specific CD4+ T cells derived from DTA mice into naïve mice consistently results in the induction of mild neurological symptoms and inflammatory CNS lesions in the recipients, and induction of immune tolerance using the MOG35–55-coupled PLG nanoparticles significantly inhibits the progression of late-onset disease symptoms in DTA mice protecting animals from eventual fatal demyelinating disease (Traka et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is demyelinating disease.
