In few cases, evidence for a cooperation among galectins had been detected, first for proto-type Gal-1 and chimera-type Gal-3 in human neuroblastoma cells [26] and for proto-type Gal-1, -2, and -7 in human activated T cells to activate different caspase profiles/cyclin B1 expression [27], then for Gal-1 and -3 in human activated neutrophils to initiate phosphatidylserine exposure [28] as well as for Gal-1 and -8 to promote plasma cell formation [29] and to enhance antigen-specific stimulation of murine naïve peripheral CD4+ T cells [30]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS1 and neuroblastoma.
