Similar effects of mutp53 were also observed in human colorectal cancer cells; cells expressing mutp53 are more sensitive to erastin-induced ferroptosis than cells expressing wild-type p53 and ectopic expression of R175H mutp53, a GOF mutp53 hotspot mutation, restores the sensitivity to erastin in both HCT116 and SW48 cells [111]. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is colorectal cancer.
