In recent years, the RNase1-eRNA system was identified as crucial factor in diverse pathologies, ranging from cardiovascular diseases, such as thrombosis, atherosclerosis or myocardial infarction, to inflammatory and infectious disorders like sepsis or bacterial infections (Kannemeier et al., 2007; Cabrera-Fuentes et al., 2014; Simsekyilmaz et al., 2014; Zakrzewicz et al., 2016; Zernecke and Preissner, 2016; Zechendorf et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene RNASE1 and bacterial infectious disease.
