Many studies have proposed methods to select subjects at high risk [31–33]; some of the proposed risk factors have included decreased cognition, measured by the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale Sum of Boxes (CDR-SOB), Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-cognitive subscale (ADAS-cog), and auditory verbal learning test (AVLT), atrophy of the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex, and elevated brain Abeta and tau. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
