This study proved that Glabridin could prevent the retinal degeneration and RPE cell death caused by NaIO3 with the mechanism of inhibiting the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK, and suggested that further experiments should be done on this drug, examining its potential use and clinical applications for the prevention and treatment of dry AMD. The gene discussed is MAPK3; the disease is dry age related macular degeneration.
