The results showed a strong correlation between SEMA4C and EMT-associated genes, including mesenchymal markers (N-cadherin and β-catenin), extracellular matrix components (fibronectin1, laminin5, collagen type III alpha 1 [COL3A1], and collagen type IV alpha 1 [COL4A1]), pro-fibrogenic factors (connective tissue growth factor [CTGF], TGF-β1), specific transcription factors (zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 and 2 [ZEB1 and ZEB2]), snail family transcriptional repressors 1 and 2 [SNAIL1 and SNAIL2]) in the TCGA-CRC cohort (R > 0.3; Figure 6). This evidence concerns the gene COL4A1 and colorectal carcinoma.
