Multiple logistic regression on preoperative risk factors associated with a LOS > 2 days was possible in 9,987 patients, and found association with age (76–80: OR 1.4, 81–85: OR 2.0, and > 85: OR 3.4), female sex (OR 1.3), use of walking aids (OR 1.9), living alone (OR 1.6), TKA (OR 1.9), psychiatric disorder (OR 1.6), cardiac (OR 1.2) or pulmonary disease (OR 1.3), both non-insulin (OR 1.3) and insulin-dependent diabetes (OR 2.0), and preoperative anemia (OR 1.5) (Table 2).
