IL-6 is a pivotal inflammatory mediator in the development of COVID-19 associated hyperinflammation; however, increased levels of other routine laboratory parameters such as C-reactive protein (C-RP), lactate dehydrogenase, ferritin, and D-dimers along with persistent lymphocytopenia were reported in COVID-19 patients with rapidly evolving respiratory failure [[6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12]]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
