As shown in Figure 3(b), it was surprising that the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in serum showed no difference in different time points as compared with control, whereas the level of IL-6 slightly increased 48 h after infection and reduced to normal level at 72 h, and this was in consistence with the level of CRP (Supplementary Figure 1), which is a marker of inflammation in the body. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and infection.
