NDRG2 and metastatic neoplasm: Although glutamine has many intracellular fates, a cell permeable analog of a tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) intermediate, α-KG, blocked NDRG2 suppressing both cell growth and metastasis, indicating the pleiotropic role of NDRG2 in metastatic tumors is dependent on the blockage of glutaminolysis pathway.
