The findings of the present research suggest that air pollution may lead to MS inflammation by two different mechanisms: (1) PM10 may directly lead to upregulation of CCR6 on circulating lymphocytes, which may facilitate their entry to the CNS; (2) PM10 could increase IL1 beta, IL6, and IL23 production by DC and enhance DC-dependent generation of IL17-producing T cells. This evidence concerns the gene CCR6 and myeloid sarcoma.
