Studies have shown that in a cohort of ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, there is a genetic association between MEP1A and inflammatory bowel disease, and the MEP1A knockout mice showed more serious intestinal damage and inflammation than wild-type mice, suggesting that the decreased expression of MEP1A is related to intestinal inflammation.[13] Meanwhile, several studies also have proposed that MEP1A plays an important role in the development of tumors and can be used as a new predictor of tumor prognosis. The gene discussed is MEP1A; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
