HDGFL2 and malaria: For surveillance, estimation of the prevalence of pfhrp2-deleted parasites may require inclusion of a sub-set of HRP2-positive RDTs from malaria patients, as well as genotyping for both pfhrp2 and pfhrp3. Furthermore, it is not known if pfhrp2 single-deleted mutants are a harbinger for pfhrp3 deletions, and subsequently the double deletions that generate false-negative results on HRP2 test lines.
