In subcohort A, no significant effects of Hyper-CEA on incident MetS were observed (HR, 0.89; 95% CI, 0.71 to 1.12; P = 0.326) after adjusting for age, smoking, alcohol intake, the components of MetS, blood uric acid, ALT, AST, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, haemoglobin and white blood cell count (Table 3, Supplemental Table S3). Here, GGTLC1 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
