At baseline, participants with MetS were older; had significantly higher SBP, DBP, BMI, FPG, triglyceride, ALT, AST, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, blood urea nitrogen, blood uric acid, haemoglobin, WBC, smoking and alcohol intake; and lower HDL-C and serum creatinine levels (Table 1).
