C5 and myocardial infarction: Kawamoto et al. [53] performed another comparative study of the expression of C5b-9, connexin 43 (Cx43), non-phosphorylated connexin 43 (npCx43), and zonula occludens-1 (ZO1) on autopsy sample revealing the immunopositivity for MAC in the 66.7% (n: 10/15) of the case with myocardial infarction and the 75% (n: 6/8) of the acute ischemic heart disease cases (without apparent myocardial necrosis).
