Since glycation has been shown to affect and enhance aggregation patterns of cataractogenic lens as well as neurotoxic α‐synuclein and tau proteins associated with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, respectively, these findings suggest that p62‐dependent autophagy induction may be salutary with regard to these widely prevalent pathologies as well (Emendato et al., 2018; Liu et al., 2016; Vicente Miranda et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Parkinson disease.
