IL-1β also take part in the pathogenesis of gout, osteoarthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, pericarditis, macrophage activating syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) [26–31], and chronic systemic inflammatory conditions, like cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS), adult-onset Still's disease, and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) [26, 32, 33]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome.
