Suppression of SEELA expression also resulted in the sensitivity of MV4-11 cells to FTY720 (Fig. 4m and Additional file 2: Fig. S8C-E), an anticancer drug that induces cell death through ceramide accumulation [42, 43] indicating that the SEELA-SERINC2 axis affects leukemia progression by mediating ceramide accumulation.
