TGFB1 and oral submucous fibrosis: Another study in India also found an evidently different frequency of a C to T transition (rs13306708) in the 5′UTR region of TGF-β1 between OSMF patients (68.7% C and 31.2% T [27CC, 15CT, 8TT] and control subjects (89.5% C and 10.4% T [42CC, 6CT, 2TT]), but the authors did not find any differences of polymorphisms in the promoter region and exon 1 of TGF-β1 between OSMF patients and control subjects [101].
