Our review extends knowledge from these meta-analyses, incorporating more recent studies in 36,983 participants and evaluating, for the first time, the effect of the MD on markers of oxidative stress and NAFLD, demonstrating greater beneficial changes of the MD, compared to a control condition, in alanine transaminase concentrations, and hepatic fat mass, albeit from a small number of studies. Here, GPT is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
