Compared to unloaded mice, in muscles of both groups of animals with the two conditions (LC-cachexia and unloading), the numbers of myoblasts (Pax-7+ and MyoD+) significantly decreased (−13% and −49% change in LC 21-days + 7-day I and LC 30-days + 15-day I, respectively), while those of myocytes (MyoD+ and myogenin+) did not significantly differ (Figure 8A–D and Figure 9A,B).
