ADPKD is caused by the dysregulation of protein polycystin 1 (PC1) or protein polycystin 2 (PC2) coded by the PKD gene on tubular epithelial cells, which could decrease the Ca2+ inflow into the cells and increase cAMP production, leading to renal cyst growths [3]. This evidence concerns the gene PKD1 and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
