Recent studies showed that such aberrant phase transitions are also involved in neurodegenerative diseases, affecting neuronal proteins such as Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) (Patel et al., 2015), Tau in Alzheimer's disease (AD) (Wegmann et al., 2018) and huntingtin exon 1 in Huntington's disease (HD) (Peskett et al., 2018).
