When only considering non-diabetic subjects in this cohort (OBENUTIC study), the association of the MTNR1B-rs10830963 polymorphism in the codominant (p = 4 × 10−6) as well as in the additive genetic model (p = 6.84 × 10−7) with fasting glucose concentrations in the model adjusted for sex, age, and obesity remained highly significant (Figure 1, panel B). Here, MTNR1B is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
