Recently, works from several groups demonstrated, either bioinformatically or experimentally, that angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), the receptor for SARS-CoV virus (Li et al., 2003), is also a functional cellular receptor for SARS-CoV-2 virus (Hoffmann et al., 2020; Walls et al., 2020; Wrapp et al., 2020; Xu et al., 2020; Zhou et al., 2020b), and transmembrane protease serine 2 (TMPRSS2) and Furin are two proteases that process SARS-CoV-2 S protein to establish efficient infection (Hoffmann et al., 2020; Li et al., 2020; Meng et al., 2020; Walls et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and infection.
