Results revealed significant associations between decreased levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and both VDR BsmI “GG” (p = 0.009) and adiponectin (ADIPOQ) BsmI “CC” (p = 0.016) genotypes, suggesting that the “G” allele in homozygous is a risk factor for PCOS (16). The gene discussed is VDR; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
