We and others have shown, using an allergic model of inflammation, that EGFR inhibitors, such as AG1478 or gefitnib, significantly reduce eosinophil recruitment, airway inflammation, airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), and goblet cell hyper/metaplasia, thus, underscoring the importance of this signaling pathway in asthma pathogenesis (Tamaoka et al., 2008; Le Cras et al., 2011; Song H. N. et al., 2016; El-Hashim et al., 2017). Here, EGFR is linked to asthma.
