In our analysis, identification of active neuronal regulatory elements targeting negative regulators of WNT signaling such as NKD1 and NOTUM and significantly higher expression of these genes (Fig. 4a, see Supplementary Fig. S4 online) argues for a similar phenomenon occurring in neuronal subtype of bladder cancer as a result of mutations in ß-catenin. This evidence concerns the gene NKD1 and urinary bladder carcinoma.
