Participants with NAFLD were mostly men, older, current smokers, ex-smokers, and current drinkers, many also with metabolic syndrome, higher levels of BMIs, daily energy intakes, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, lower education levels, unlikely managers, and had a family history of diabetes (all P < 0.05). The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
