ATG5 and pancreatic neoplasm: Like the knockdown of autophagy-related 5 (ATG5) or ATG7, the knockdown of NCOA4 also blocks ferritin degradation and suppresses erastin-induced ferroptosis in fibroblasts and pancreatic cancer cells, whereas the overexpression of NCOA4 promotes ferroptosis by degrading ferritin (Hou et al., 2016).
