BRCA1 and neoplasm: Fujiwara et al. showed that tubo-ovarian carcinomas in a cohort of BRCA1 germline mutation carriers tended to exhibit high-grade and serous/undifferentiated histology, prominent tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), marked nuclear atypia with giant/bizarre forms, and abundant mitotic figures; these features had a negative predictive value of >94% and a positive predictive value of 21% for BRCA1 germline mutation status (49).
