Our further analysis using anti-CD8, anti-CD107a and DAPI co-staining showed that the frequency of CD8+ T cells releasing LETs is clearly associated with the progression from the early to the late, ulcerated, phase of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL), as well as with disease severity, since the lesions obtained from patients with the mutilating mucosal form (ML) also display more CD8-derived LETs. Here, LAMP1 is linked to cutaneous leishmaniasis.
