Interestingly, neither of the other two clinical chorioamnionitis patient groups (i.e., without any detectable microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity but elevated cytokine levels (IL-6 > 2.6 ng/ml) or without any elevated IL-6 (<2.6 ng/ml), hence, no biochemical signatures of “inflammation”) have any detectable levels of LTB4 in the amniotic fluid (<0.015 nM). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and chorioamnionitis.
