Although platinum-based chemotherapy and radiation therapy are the traditional treatment methods for such tumors (Hanna et al., 2017; Tabchi et al., 2017), the last decade has shown the emergence of the molecular targeted therapies, including the tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and the immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) that have helped improve the outcome of the patients with NSCLC (Hirsch et al., 2017; Dong et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
