Firstly, the hyperpolarisation induced by the opening of potassium channel (background current from KCNQ1/KCNE3 in colonocytes or inducing the opening of hERG in breast cancer cells) leads to the restriction of Wnt activity by a similar mechanism, i.e. the sequestration of β-catenin at the plasma membrane and probably at the adherens junctions. Here, KCNH2 is linked to breast carcinoma.
