A critical role of the NADPH oxidase isoform NOX2 (gp91phox) was demonstrated for angiotensin II (AT-II) induced hypertension by using NOX2ko or overexpressing NOX2tg mice [29,30,31,32], which was further refined by providing the molecular proof that NOX2 in immune cells (LysM-positive myelomonocytic cells) is key to the development of hypertension in angiotensin-II infused mice [33]. This evidence concerns the gene CYBB and hypertensive disorder.
